He was, as all the Greek heroes were in his time, noble and brave. Invincibility was his armor and courage he engraved on his spear and shield. He had braved the fierce storms of Poseidon’s sea just to reach the shores of world’s end.
However, here he ended his tale, smitten by love he chanced upon the cursed maiden. She was once beautiful, the unnamed hero thinks, a damned existence with a mass of writhing serpents for hair. Paralyzed and captivated by her enchanting gaze, he decides to stay with her immortalized in stone, an unmarked grave in a monster’s den.
